Yesterday I was reading this niche little book, Daisy Jones and the Six, heard of it? And in the book someone said,
“Someone who insists on perfect conditions to make art isn’t an artist. They’re an asshole.”
And I was immediately inspired. Lately I’ve been noticing that if I’m not “in the mood” to do something, I really resist it. Like I have to be in my manic-like, abundant, magical energy to make art, execute a concept or even clean up my house. (This is an energy I pick up almost daily that helps me accomplish a lot, but unfortunately I cannot force it)
So here’s my reminder (to myself) to do what you need to do (play guitar for 10 minutes, send that email, make a meal, paint, go on a walk) even if you’re not really in the mood.
Because here’s the thing, there would be no point in art if you felt like making it all the time. (And yes, the way you answer emails, make your bed, and breathe the air is art)
Here’s a podcast to inspire you.
I needed to hear this.
