I feel like anytime I open any app I’m blasted with people telling me the best way to live my life, what I should be doing, thinking, and buying and I’m starting to get opinion fatigue.
Ok massive hypocrite— you write this newsletter every week about your life. How do I make sure this doesn’t feel like another thing on their phone that stresses them out?
The reason I started this was to be a weekly friend, so I’m going to keep chatting with you guys, my friends, and hope it keeps working out okay.
I’ve actually been implementing some of my January Goals (!!!!!!!) and experimenting with what is actually beneficial and what’s not.
Here’s what I’ve been liking:
#1: Ginger. Been making homemade ginger shots and taking them in the morning to really wake up. By the end of the week I switched to mixing it with water (sparkling water was fun) and drinking a diluted shot. I didn’t love feeling like I was slinging tequila as my coffee was brewing.
But anyway, I swear it’s helped with my digestion?
(blend washed ginger with water and strain with nut milk bag— google it. So easy!)
#2: Walking/Working. Sometimes it’s a curse to have most your work be in your phone, in this case it’s a blessing. I can walk a steady 3 miles an hour at the gym and I get so much more done than I would at home. I need a walking pad, but then I’d have almost no incentive to leave the house. If I can continue this moving my body streak through like, April…. I think I can literally do anything.
#3: One Coffee a day. I struggle with obsessive and often intrusive thoughts 😍 Cutting out my daily second coffee has helped my mind slow down 🥺 I’m sure cutting it out all together would work wonders but I would rather live with my demons and sip on some half-caff. Life is too short. I broke this rule today and look what I’m doing. Writing this thing at 11:24pm and feeling pretty anxious.
Wait, speaking of that. Why do I have to be stimulated 24/7? Doesn’t so much magic happen in sweet sweet silence. Can I not be productive in serenity? Well, maybe not. But I’m finding right now. Also I’m pretty sure it’s helping with my acne.
#4: Actually using my planner and giving myself time blocks for tasks. It helps that I invented my own planner.
#5: Watching TV at the end of the day. No phone. Oh my goodness it is so fun. We just started “Shrinking” on Apple TV and I really love it so far. For some reason, as we rewatch The Office for the 27th time I’m laughing and enjoying it like I’ve never seen it before. I think it’s because I’m watching it without my phone.
#6: I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again. Noise Cancellation mode on my headphones. Zoning out and zeroing in is such a safe space for me.
Things I *must* do better at this week:
#1: not gett Kaya a pup cup everyday :(
#2: getting off my phone by 8:00 and honoring my social media time rules on the weekend: 3 hours IG, 30 min TT (UNLIMITED PINTEREST) For some reason this is easy Mon-Fri.
#3: reading for fun in the evenings; this week is Prince Harry’s new book, enjoying it so far.
Let me know if you’re loving any of your sexy little habits these days?
