You guys! What the heck. The response to last week’s newsletter was so sweet and uplifting. I wish all my readers could chat with each other and see how un-alone we are in our feelings and life experiences. Last week I shared that I was tuning back into my higher self by returning to my morning routine. A couple of people requested that I share my revamped routine, so here we ar
I like to be flexible since every day of my life looks a little different, but I’ll share the key changes that have packed a punch in my transformation over the last three weeks.
I got back into alignment, flow, rhythm, and routine, about three weeks ago. As I enter week four I am absolutely blown away by my energy transformation. I am feeling more focused (and confident) throughout the work day, more on top of my business tasks, and when I want to slip back into my pattern of feeling like too much is happening and I want to shut down, I realize that I am making unnecessary problems. Seriously, I used to slip into moments of overwhelm, complete fear, and chaos almost daily. I found myself slipping into fight or flight in moments of peace and normalcy. I am finally slipping into my meditations again and working out consistently. A life-changing dream of mine just came true (can’t tell ya yet though! but I’ve hinted…. )
This sounds like a corny testimonial about a silly vitamin or something, but I’m just so relieved to finally feel this way after so so long. So here’s what I’ve been doing:
This is an ode to the morning routine:
Wake up around 6:15-6:30; our alarm goes off at 5:55 I think (?) and my dog leaps off the bed to be fed, so I literally sleep walk over to her food to feed her 1/2 of her breakfast. Then I roll back into bed until like 6:05 or 6:10. This is crucial: I try to wake my mind up at this moment. I tell myself it’s game time and remind myself how much I love what’s to come and it’s time to start the day. If I fall back asleep at 6:15-6:30 it’s game over. I’ll sleep till 7:30 or 8. I try to scrape my tongue first thing in case I was mouth breathing in my sleep.
NOTE: We’re flexible, remember guys? Last Thursday I had a client project due that I really wanted to get done and was behind on, so I stayed up til 10:45 working on it and slept till 7:30 to catch up, and then got up and started working, because I had 4 hours of work to finish before the start of my work day. Since this is rare, NBD! I did my routine in the evening instead.
Grab my book (currently it’s Becoming Supernatural by Joe Dispenza or The Mountain is You by Brianna Weist) and take my probiotic with a ton of water (I use the brand Seed) then I head out with my dog to my balcony and sit in silence and sip, pondering life, whatever. I love my view and I think it’s really important to sit in silence in a fun, non-meditative way. We’re just kinda waking up at this point. This part of the day is lovely. Then I’ll read a chapter of my book. Today I actually ended up pondering life and thinking about some dreams of mine for the duration of my coffee and didn’t even open my book, I just savored the silence. *You can’t do this part wrong, unless you’re on your phone or you bring your phone, or you check it first thing when you wake up.
When I am done I will often journal my thoughts, ideas and realizations. I will then take my dog out. This takes a while as we live on the fourth floor with no elevators :) When I return it is time to meditate. Movement/flow really helps my body be able to sink into the moment and focus on the meditation better so I’ve been doing this quick yoga video before I meditate. Today I just stretched because tonight I have a big night ahead: walk to gym, swim laps at the pool, read my book in the hot tub and meditate in the steam room, so I can keep it short.
Before I meditate I have been taking some heart-opening herbs. I love the brand Organic Olivia* and spray “Peace Juice” in my mouth and then put “Flowers for my Love” in a small, darling cup of water. This process tastes like mint and roses! When I sit in the sun to begin the meditation I sip the rose water and savor the moment. I have been doing the meditations I learned in Joe Dispenza’s book, but you could use any guided meditation from youtube, or sit in silence. I also intermittently do TBM (to be magnetic) work which requires it’s own meditations that come with the program. I usually meditate in the sun with my red light mask on. I realize this morning routine is sounding expensive, but the most important part is sitting in the sun and with your thoughts. Shoot, there’s another product I have to tell you about. I light these little incense matches while I meditate and it’s so lovely. I swear none of these links are affiliate.
If I am not going on a walk or gym later in the day I’ll do a Melissa Wood Health Pilates video, or I’ll hula hoop with my weighted hoop (lol) then I’ll brush my teeth, whatever. On a good day I’ll make my bed.
If this is feeling like a goop article, you need to know how lazy I have been with this stuff over the last year and a half. But now that I’m back I’m simply watching my life change before my eyes! Make the whole process free by checking out a nice spiritual/uplifting book from the library and meditating on youtube or in silence. And I know, you have a blank journal or five sitting around. I see right through you because we are the same.
